2022 Northern California Hawaiian Steel Guitar Symposium

This is a one-day only workshop designed for beginners and/or existing steel guitarists who have some experience on the steel guitar and would like to take their playing to the next level by learning new pieces and explring practice strategies.

The Starter Class will work on basic technique (straight bar, forward and reverse slants), blocking, p-tahs, production of better tone, TAB reading.

The Symposium Class will work on pa‘ani and fills and how to develop your own background fills and pa‘ani melodies for songs ideal for jamming anywhere. Class materials: TBA including songs from the He Mele Aloha Book.

The Kani Ka Pila jam session open to the public and using songs from the He Mele Aloha Book.

Tuition:
Starter Class-$100
Symposium Class-$150
Both Classes-$225 (enrollment limited to 20 students)

Kani Ka Pila Donation:
$5 per person donation for non-students to defer the cost of the hall
