A steel guitar summer institute will be held for young musicians ages 9-17 who want to learn how to play the Hawaiian steel guitar.
Learn music the fun way on an instrument born in Hawai‘i and one that will fascinate and intrigue the player. Students will learn and explore the Hawaiian steel guitar giving them an opportunity to play simple Hawaiian songs and fills methods for backing singers and other musicians.
Tuition is $60 for the six, 1-hour sessions. Instruction will be provided by steel guitar master Alan Akaka at the Ke Kula Mele Hawai‘i School of Hawaiian Music.
